Professor Blanca Rodriguez is a leading scientist & innovator in Computational Medicine at the University of Oxford. She actively collaborates with industry through research & innovation projects and consultancy. She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
She aims to accelerate medical therapy development through human modelling and simulation augmented by big data, machine learning and non-animal experimental methods. Her team has contributed pioneering case studies for the Digital Twin vision in precision medicine, and In Silico Trials for therapy testing. She has raised over £40 million as principal or co-investigator and leads the Computational Cardiovascular Science team.
Blanca has a deep commitment to training on technical aspects of modelling and simulation including verification, validation and uncertainty quantification, but importantly also skills for effective interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations and communication.
She regularly gives speeches in conferences, industry and public events. She also enjoys a healthy life style, has three children and loves friendship, swimming, yoga, food and travelling amongst many other things.
Originally, she is from Valencia, Spain, where she went to school at the Lycee Francais de Valencia, and trained in Engineering at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (MSc and PhD) .She lived in New Orleans, USA for two years working as a postdoc at Tulane University. She then joined the University of Oxford, holding competitive personal research fellowships and leading her team since 2007. She holds the professorship in Computational Medicine since 2014.
